Where is volskygge in skyrim map

While traversing Volskygge, players will find one such puzzle, but the solution is simple once players know where to look. Volskygge, like Bleak Falls Barrow, is an ancient Nordic tomb, and as such it has some similarities in its architecture.

Most notably, the use of animal totems like the bear, owl, and snake is present in both tombs. To get past this locked door in Skyrim , players will have to decipher a riddle found in a book resting atop a dais. The riddle reads as follows.

The third eats what it can, preferably number one. There are four insignia bear, wolf, fox, snake near the floor, and each has a pedestal behind it with a handle that can be activated. To solve the puzzle, it is necessary to activate the handles in the correct order. The riddle of the puzzle is described in the book The Four Totems of Volskygge , which is on a pedestal near the north end of the room.

The riddle goes as follows:. Continuing through the newly opened door, there is a spiral staircase down, a chest, and a lever on the left-side wall of the northern-most alcove that opens a secret passage to a room with minor loot that is protected by a poison dart trap. Proceeding down the wooden spiral stairs and through the short passage leads to a door to the next area.

The corridor beyond the door leads down stairs and into a room with a soul gem , and urns containing random loot. The lever next to the soul gem stand just opens a set of iron bars to a small alcove. Behind the iron door to the north is a room with a draugr. There is a chest to the right in the back - it is booby trapped, but can be disarmed. On the altar, there are two soul gems and a skeever tail. The iron bars to the west are opened by activating the lever on the wall to the right.

The room beyond has a grate over a pit, and just beyond, a pressure plate that activates a pendulum axe. In the next room is a trap door that opens on a pit with spikes, but which has wooden platforms that can be jumped between to get to the bottom safely.

At the bottom, there is a lone draugr to fight. Proceeding to the south, the passage turns to the west, then proceeds up stairs to a room where there are three draugr and several side alcoves with crypts. To the north from there is a passage that leads back to the room with the trap door. In the room with the trap door, there is a dead bandit. On the wall hidden behind her, there is a lever that opens to a room with another lever that will close the first wall and open a second.

In this room, there is an adept locked chest and a healing potion on a pedestal. Once the potion is removed, spikes will come up from the floor, so it is best to approach the pedestal with the potion from behind. Back in the room with the three draugr, to the south is a spiked gate trap, behind which is an apprentice-locked chest.

The path turns to the right west , where two more draugr are found. The path turns north, then opens up into a large square room with a large column in the center and crypts all around. There are multiple draugr here. Up the stairs is another powerful draugr, and a third burial chamber. There is a live draugr in a crypt on the right which can be attacked before it awakens. Through the open iron doors straight ahead, there is another draugr scourge.

On the altar, there are three health related potions. The ruin's large interior contains many locks and hosts a myriad of enemies, so carry a good supply of health potions and lockpicks or the Skeleton Key before entering. Inside the ruin, pass through the first gate and into a throne room protected by a dart trap and two bandits patrolling back and forth. Proceed westward through a tunnel, wary of a pressure plate that triggers a spiked wall trap.

Ahead stands another bandit near a locked chest that contains minor loot. The northern tunnel leads to an intersection; the path to the west from this leads to a room in which a Nord and an Orc bandit try to break into a cage see this section.

Fighting the bandits here is optional, although unlocking the cage leads to a handle that will lower a nearby wall and provide access to a secret room with minor loot. You will find a copy of the Lockpicking skill book Surfeit of Thieves on the shelves near the secret wall. From here, backtrack to the intersection and continue east into a huge dining hall littered with dead draugr through which two more bandits wander. The rooms to the north contain little of interest, so leave the area through the eastern door, but tread carefully: the dead bandit you'll see on the floor was killed by a battering ram triggered by a pressure plate just inside.

Don't meet the same fate. The ruin's puzzle room is situated around the corner. A huge structure in the middle of the room points to four handles, each of which must be activated in the correct order. If you fail, undead enemies will break out of the central structure and attack. If done correctly, the torches in the middle of the room will light up as each lever is pulled in the correct order.

Find the pedestal supporting the book The Four Totems of Volskygge and read it for the clues to the puzzle:. If done correctly, the adjacent iron gate will open, providing access to another room containing a spiral staircase, a chest and a secret passage.

The passage is opened via a lever on the left of the two pillars on the northern wall, leading to a dart trap and a few minor items. Turn back and take the spiral staircase down, which leads to the next zone of the ruin, Volskygge Passages.

The first few rooms of Volskygge Passages are empty, except for a soul gem on a pedestal and a handle that opens to a small room holding absolutely nothing see notes. In the third chamber, a leveled draugr guards two more soul gems.
